About Tessa's Tale Publishing

About Us

Tessa's Tale Publishing is an independent publishing imprint and design studio founded on the belief that the right story — or the right object — can genuinely change a day.

Tessa's Tale Publishing was founded by author Stacy Moss and named for her dog Tessa — though it was Tessa's sister Poppy who inspired the first book.

What started as one dog's story has grown into a small, intentional publishing house and handcrafted goods studio. We publish books across genres and age groups, and we design and fabricate a growing line of 3D printed and drop shipped accessories and gifts — all held to the same editorial standard: it has to be relatable, it has to have heart, and it has to earn its place in someone's home.

We are based in South Florida and ship across the United States.

What We Make

Tessa's Tale Publishing produces work across three areas:

Children's Books

Early chapter books and coloring and activity books for readers ages 7–12.

Our children's titles explore big feelings — courage, friendship, loss, belonging, change — through stories grounded in real experience.

They are written to work at home, in classrooms, and in counseling contexts, and each one includes discussion questions and reflection prompts for use beyond the story itself.

Books for Adults

Fiction, self-help, and travel writing for adult readers.

Tessa's Tale adult titles share the same editorial values as our children's line: honest storytelling, genuine craft, and something worth keeping long after the last page.

Forthcoming titles include adult fiction and a dog-and-travel coffee table book.

Handcrafted Accessories

A growing line of 3D designed and printed home goods, gifts, and customizable accessories.

Made in-house with the same intention as everything else under this name.

Every title and product published or made under the Tessa's Tale name is reviewed against the same standard: does it make someone feel seen, heard, or loved? If the answer is yes, it belongs here. If the answer is only "it might sell," it doesn't.

For wholesale buyers, librarians, and educators

Tessa's Tale Publishing titles are available for purchase directly through this website and through Amazon. We are currently in the process of establishing distribution through Ingram, which will make our titles available for ordering through standard library and educational purchasing channels. If you are interested in ordering before that process is complete, please reach out directly — we are happy to discuss terms.

Our children's titles are appropriate for:

  • School and public library collections, particularly for early chapter book sections (ages 7–12)
  • Elementary school classroom libraries
  • School counselor and social-emotional learning resources, particularly titles addressing anxiety, change, loss, and resilience
  • Read-aloud programs and family literacy initiatives

What educators and counselors will find in our children's titles:

  • Themes of emotional resilience, friendship, courage, and belonging
  • Discussion questions and reflection prompts included in each book
  • Content appropriate for sensitive topics including shelter animals, pet loss, family change, and starting over
  • A Note to Grown-Ups in each children's title with guidance for supporting young readers through the themes raised

What We Stand For

Tessa's Tale Publishing is a small operation with a clear point of view. We publish and produce things that move toward something — toward hope, toward connection, toward a reader feeling less alone. We do not publish content that leaves someone in a worse place than it found them.

We are selective about what we publish and who we publish. Every title under this imprint — whether written by our founder or by one of the authors we work with personally — goes through the same editorial process and is held to the same standard of craft, intention, and emotional honesty.

We believe independent publishing matters. We believe stories told with care find the people who need them. And we believe a well-made object — even a small one, even a paw print magnet on a refrigerator — can carry something meaningful if it was made that way on purpose.
